Hi everyone! July’s blog series is all about beauty, health and wellness.  I do not want to mislead any of you into thinking that I following all these recommendations that I am about to share. I do on the other hand try to follow what I preach most of the time 🙂 I’m keeping it real! 

Today I want to discuss beauty. Beauty routines, tools, aides etc.  While researching the top beauty advice I came to this conclusion – sleep and drinking plenty of water seem to be the basis to so many of our beauty dilemmas.  The National Sleep Foundation recommends the following:

Teenagers 14-17 years 8 to 10 hours 7 hours 11 hours
Young Adults 18-25 years 7 to 9 hours 6 hours 10 to 11 hours
Adults 26-64 years 7 to 9 hours 6 hours 10 hours
Older Adults ≥ 65 years 7 to 8 hours 5 to 6 hours 9 hours

It is believed that not getting enough sleep can result in poor water balance, leading to puffy bags and dark circles under your eyes, as well as dryness and more visible wrinkles. Basically by not sleeping your body/skin is losing moisture and damaged cells are not repaired giving you an aged look. The moral here? Get enough sleep each night! 

Now we come to water – that all important essential fluid.  The key to healthy glowing skin is moisture. So you guessed it water will provide much needed moisture to skin.  When skin is hydrated, it looks plumper, and the signs of aging are minimized.  

But that’s not all we have to do to have beautiful skin. Whether it be your face or body experts recommend moisturizers.  I do use a moisturizer for my face. For my body I use solid lotion bars and on occasion store bought lotions. An item that many people often forget and its essential for skin care is sunscreen/sunblock.  Skin Cancer is many times a preventable disease.  Recently I’ve discovered a facial sunscreen by Babo Botanicals.


This is a sheer daily sunscreen for extra sensitive skin containing SPF 40. This product is also fragrance free, soothes and moisturizers skin.  It is not only important to apply sunscreen in the summer but all year round. Sun expose can also happen in the winter. So its just a good idea to add a sunscreen to your daily beauty routine.  If you are looking to pick up a sunscreen I recommend this one!
