We all know the struggles of our beauty secrets. How do we keep that skin looking flawless? How do we keep our nails looking great? How do we keep our eyebrows on point? And let me not go into what some of us women do to keep our hair looking awesome. The average cost of beauty services per year is a whopping $1800!!! The beauty services industry is a billion dollar industry, but I will share with you how I easily save $300 by doing one simple beauty maintenance at home.
What do I do you ask? I am my own Beautician. Ok so I didn’t actually go to beauty school but I figured out that by waxing my own eyebrows at home I am saving an average of $300.00 per year and that is only the tip of the iceberg. I also do other beauty services at home. I have started to do my own gel manicures (using all professional polishes/supplies/equipment just like at the nail salons) and my own hair maintenance.
So this is what I do – I purchase the Sally Hansen Microwavable Eyebrow, Lip and Face Wax Kit. The cost of the kit is about $8 and can be purchased at RiteAid, Target, Walgreens and Walmart just to name a few retailers. I usually buy a new kit three to four times a year. What that means is that I spend a maximum of $32 per year to get my eyebrows waxed compared to paying an average of $10 ($8 for the waxing and $2 for tip) every 10-14 days for a total of over $300!
Because I am not a professional I do go about once a year to get my eyebrows waxed at a salon. For me doing my eyebrows at home is not only about savings it’s also about the piece of mind I have that my eyebrows will be intact! I know that if you are a woman reading this you know what I am talking about. I can’t tell you enough how many times I got my eyebrows done at a salon and when I got home I would notice that the beautician had waxed off almost every hair from the ends of my eyebrows. “Just clean them up” and “I do not want my eyebrows thin” never really seemed to be understood! One time it was so bad that after the lady waxed my eyebrows she went ahead and said “let me comb your brows for you”; in reality she was applying brow powder so I would not see her waxing blunder! That night when I got home and washed my face I realized that she had waxed the end of one of my eyebrows off!! I was so upset and for months I had to pencil my eyebrow in. Don’t get me started on how long eyebrow hairs seem to take to grow back after a serious case of a bad wax job!
Of course waxing is not your only alternative there is always threading or good old plucking. Doing my own eyebrow waxing at home is just my way of saving $300. Give it a try its easier than you might think.
Have a blessed and perfect eyebrow day!
