Hey fabulous readers! Autumn and Winter are around the corner and I wanted to share with you my love of all things boots!!
In the autumn and winter, when it is cold and often wet, it is always nice to have a pair of boots to pull on. They are great for keeping your feet warm and dry. So, at this time of the year, they really are a wardrobe essential.
Right now, there are plenty of great looking boots available. It really doesn’t matter what style you fancy wearing you are bound to find them in the shops. However, there are a few boot styles that have dominated the catwalks, over the past few weeks. Naturally, these are the ones that are making their way onto the shelves of mainstream footwear retailers.
Perhaps the biggest trend for autumn/winter 2017 is the return of the bootie. They come in many different styles. For safety, a pair of cowboy style booties with a Cuban heel is ideal for walking the dog in cold weather. But, by far the most widely available bootie boots are the ones that are styled more like a pair of shoes. These are basically Oxford brogues and loafers that are crafted to finish just below the ankle and cover the whole of the front of the foot.
You can really see the influence of the late 80s on this season’s fashions. A great example of this is the return of the ankle boot. There are many different types available, but it is the Chelsea boot that most designers have used for inspiration. These super smart boots look really good when worn with a tapered style of jeans and trousers that are so widely available in stores, at the moment.
Mid-Calf Length Boots
If you like to wear dresses and skirts in the colder months, a good pair of mid-calf boots is an essential. It is particularly nice to see women with thicker calves being well catered for (like myself!). This year, quite a few footwear designers have decided to incorporate panels of stretch fabric into their mid-calf length boots.
Over-the-knee boots look sexy and sassy. They are a great choice for the confident woman, who still wants to wear shorter skirts and dresses during the autumn and winter. There are some really nice soft suede ones available. These are particularly comfortable to wear and are a fantastic way to keep your legs nice and warm. Potentially you could even wear them over leggings or skinny jeans.
Getting the fit right
Regardless of what style of boot you choose getting the fit right is vital. The last thing you need is a pair that pinches your feet, all day long. Before you go shopping or try on boots that you have bought online don the kind of socks or tights you are planning to wear them with. Stand, walk and get up on your tiptoes to make sure that the fit is right. If you can, keep them on for at least 30 minutes to see double-check the fit.
For those of you planning to buy long boots, this article will prove helpful. In it, you will learn how to properly measure the shaft of the boot to make sure it will be comfortable for you to wear. Ladies this is essential especially for those of us with wide calves!
Thank you so much for reading! Happy boot shopping!!!0
